Little Women

This is my first book review, and I'm so excited to share my thoughts on a classic like Little Women!

Photo taken by me. Please do not steal!

This was a beautiful cozy book to read that feels like a warm hug on a cozy day. I really enjoyed this book and the story of four sisters that includes everything the perfect cozy book would have: a nice setting, family, teary-eyed moments, make-you-want-to-be-there moments and the entire story is really good!

Let the author Louisa May Alcott take you inside the March’s house in winter, 1861 New England. where Marmee, the sister’s loving mother, Meg, the oldest and most responsible, Beth, the quiet but sweet one, Jo, the tomboy who has a passion for writing, and Amy, the youngest who is a little spoiled but artistic. This family’s father is a kind and thoughtful man who is  away at the civil war but sends letters to the family letting them know he still loves them and wishes he could be there with them all.

Next door is a different house, with the inhabitants as some servants, a boy named Laurie who is adventurous, loyal and plays a significant role in the book. While his grandfather on the other hand is wealthy,  grumpy and a little distant.

The book spans over multiple years, so the characters all get older, some experience heartbreak, moving away or important life lessons

Another important note is that the book is divided into two parts, Little Women and Good Wives. When the book was first written, it was only half of the book until about a year later the second part, Good Wives came and finished the story about the sisters and their life; so if you plan on buying it then I would recommend making sure it has both parts! (unless you want to only read one for some reason.)

If you really liked Little Women then I would recommend Little Men, which takes place after the events of Little Women and is about one of the sisters’ children. (Read Little Women first before you read Little Men because it will spoil what happens in Little Women)

In summary Little Women is a beautiful classic that is great for people who like cozy books, coming-of age, or classics and I would definitely recommend to anyone of any age to read!

Read time:  about two plus weeks, but if you’re rushing it then maybe about four to five days

My rating:  five stars

Good quote from this book:  “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” – Mr. March
